Radical and Paradoxical Thoughts in Spirituality

It is rather interesting to note that spirituality is truly a way of radical thinking.

Let's start with Christ when he said - " Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth" and even "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven".

Firstly, how can meekness and being poor in spirit enable anyone to achieve anything in life? But Christ says these words. This is clearly a paradox.

Then Rumi, the most well know Sufi Master, talks of radical love which is like ivy that sucks every nutrient out of the tree before moving to another "victim". How is that love then?

What are your thoughts on this? anyone out there?

  1. Not contradictory at all.... Meekness and poor in spirit are the ones who are AWARE. Sucking out every nutrient...???? no it sucks out every piece of EGO and GREED in man until he is left with SPIRIT alone...that's true love
